Relationships can be a joy and a source of enormous stress. EFT is a powerful and very effective tool to help you better manage your relationships. I'm not suggesting you can change or manage someone's behaviour by tapping but you can change your response and you'll be amazed by the difference that can make. If you change your energy you'll change how people respond to you.
Let's start with the easy one. Take a moment to think of someone in your life that you have a loving relationship with. One where getting along together is usually easy and pleasant. It doesn't have to be a romantic partner. How does it make you feel when you think about this person? I don't mean just the words to describe the feelings but also the sensation in your body. Maybe it's a warm feeling in your chest or lightness in your head. I promise it wont spoil the magic if you focus on it. In fact, taking time in any relationship to focus on the positives can actually help you strengthen and deepen your relationship. Studies of both dating and married couples find that people are more satisfied with — and stay longer in — relationships when they have an idealised or slightly unrealistically positive view of their partner. Better still, write it down. Yes you can do this in your head but the act of writing adds a clarity that might surprise you! Now.....Think about someone who you find it hard to get along with. Someone you find irritating and difficult. Notice what comes up, you might find yourself feeling uncomfortable at the thought of this person even though they're only in your head! Tap as you think about them. Why? Because it might bring up bad feelings and so the tapping will help to balance those feelings. Also tapping calms your body and so you can think more clearly. How does it make you feel to think about this person? Can you locate the feeling in your body? Can you describe it? Maybe it's a heavy sensation in your chest or tightness in your head. What's your story with this person? “I don't like their energy..... They ignore me..... They irritate me..... They always criticise..... They make me feel bad.” What does it mean about them that they treat you this way? How attached are you to this story? Does it make you right? How does it make you feel to react in this way? How attached are you to this reaction? Asking these questions and answering them truthfully may be difficult. Now's the time to start tapping. (check out the tapping points at www.dianarickman.com) Even though I feel ???????? about this person I accept this is how I feel and I'm ok. Even though this person is very ??????? I'm ok. Whats your motivation? Look for your reason to improve this relationship. Accept that you have a choice in this They don't MAKE you feel this way. You CHOOSE to react to them in this way. They're not giving you the feeling and you can choose a different reaction. As you take ownership for your feelings about this person you can also begin to acknowledge your feelings and understand their purpose. Maybe your feelings are just trying to keep you safe. I had a client who was struggling to work alongside a colleague. This colleague was in a senior position and had upset other staff members, so it wasn't personal, just their personality and management style. We tapped and my client worked out that he had three choices: 1. Just keep going until the stress resulted in illness or resigning. 2. Give up and look for another job right now. 3. Look for a new way to react to this colleague. One that didn't drain energy and managed the bad feeling before it got a chance to take over My client really enjoyed his job and also wanted to be there to make sure the colleague didn't undermine the good work done so far by the team. So...we tapped and played about with the way the colleague looked and sounded and gave them a silly name like a cartoon character. The next week my client reported that this approach had really taken the edge off. We tapped some more on the way the colleague made him feel and in the end he could see the behaviour of the colleague came from a place of fear, they felt inferior. Now he had a better understanding and could see that it wasn't personal. What's your end goal? Once you have built this inner strength the healing work of forgiveness can begin. There's a lot of talk about the power of forgiveness and I have to tell you its all true. Not the “yeah, yeah I forgive you” response but deep forgiveness that allows you to send love and understand another. This doesn't mean you have to become friends or even like the other person but, there's a lot of healing to be found by standing in another's shoes. Did you enjoy this article? ...Maria has kindly let me share one of her blog articles - 4 Key Pillars Creating Professional Courses - originally posted on her website on 27 October 2015 - http://mariadoyle.com/4-key-pillars-creating-professional-courses/ (Read Maria's complete article) So what are the 4 Key Pillars crucial to creating professional courses? PILLAR 1 - Connect
What happens when some of these things are out of whack? You get grumpy clients who didn't get what they expected. There's a fair chance there wasn't a complete picture of how the course would operate, including the complete user experience, how the teacher and learners would communicate, what would be included, how the content would be accessed, OR what the course, program or workshop series would achieve overall. When you fail to really identify your client needs, the different ways people learn, and the exact expectations around the full user experience, you open yourself up to refund requests, mismatched expectations and a minefield of 'but I thought I was getting X' type complaints. PILLAR 2 - Create
Something that most formally qualified teachers take for granted, is a solid curriculum document. We use them daily, and with good reason. When they're missing? Nightmare material. The content is disorganised, there doesn't seem to be a consistent thread to follow, you've no idea what's coming up next, the content isrambling or poorly connected and the user experience leaves a LOT to be desired. We've all been a learner in THAT classroom - right? Passionate, well meaning professionals come to me in confusion and overwhelm because they have created so much content, but have no idea how it all fits together, no idea where anything is, their filing system is an endless rabbit warren of duplicate information and they've totally lost the love with it. All of it. All that hard work, and they've created themselves a monster. Don't do this to yourself. You run with a course like that? Your learners will know it, YOU will know it, and you'll get to the end of the experience and completely rethink your plans to ever teach again. Forget feeling overwhelmed, confused and out of your depth. Have a plan that will keep you organised, your learners (and your reputation) will thank you! PILLAR 3 - Communicate
Be they workshops, worksheets or online webinars, the structure of your content, visual aids and delivery mechanisms dictate whether or not you provide a user experience that will inspire and motivate your clients to engage with your materials, stay engagedand actually apply the new knowledge to changing their lives for the better. When you fail to create learning materials that cater to the different ways people learn, and basic best practice teaching and learning principles, your clients get bored, drop out, or never really engage with your content. No one wants to be in that classroom - right? Worse still, you're unlikely to get raving reviews or testimonials, your reputation may start to take a nose dive, and you may even begin to lose hope that your content is actually as powerful as you thought it could be. Don't go there. Sometimes it's a simple as a few tweaks here and there to the way it's presented, ordered or the questions you've asked to get them to open that document. Don't be that Physics teacher you had in high school that had the class hypnotised within minutes. Really. Not. Necessary. PILLAR 4 - Critique
All courses that have 5 star ratings have a solid set of evaluations embedded to source timely feedback that can enhance the user experience. There's nothing worse than getting to the end of a course, then getting a tonne of feedback on items that could have been rectified in a heartbeat, saving frustration for a number of your clients. There's also nothing worse than being known as the type of professional who creates a bunch of content then just recycles it over and over, never adapting or improving the resources or adding any further value. Clients can sense that sort of 'professionalism' (or lack thereof) from a mile off. What category do YOU fall into? If you want to know more about "How does your course or seminar stack up" head over to Maria's blog - read her whole article and take her quick quiz - The Training Skills Assessment, or download her 12 Step Blueprint she has available. In Rachpal's words: "What is A Dash of Spice – the magazine? I’ve had this line in my head for the longest time. Let’s face it, ladies, life is filled with changes. We all go through them. From the joyous ones like marriage, parenthood, to the uncertain ones like health scares, divorce even. Most of us go through changes without even noticing. Some of us get scared and perhaps even try to run and hide. Some get stressed and dive into depression. Change is inevitable; it’s how we adapt to the change that matters. Big or small, life is filled with transitions. Whatever we may be going through, good, bad or ugly, it doesn’t mean we stop living. It doesn’t mean we succumb to the change and let life carry us along for the ride. It also doesn’t mean we are alone in all of this. No. We got to learn to embrace these transitions. And we are certainly not alone. Our circumstances may be different but trust me, we are no different from one another..." READ MORE Click on each pic below if you want to check each issue out. Rachpal started her magazine "A Dash of Spice" in September. Currently it is free to subscribe to In 2006 when Rachpal first started coaching, women came to her with different stories, but the same plot: There was a problem, usually involving someone and as they tried to help the other person their own needs were pushed back. Sometimes it was a child, the husband, the parent or the boss. It was always other needs - them first, then self. Rachpal felt that she was no different to these women and that she could relate to them. Like them, she was giving more than she was receiving. She felt frustrated and her relationships and work would suffer. One day she decided that this must change and she thought she would experiment by putting herself first. She let go of the belief that had been so deeply emmeshed. Women forget that looking after themselves is crucial before one can look after others. When you are sad and frustrated, there is absolutely no way that you can give your love, care and concern to others without feeling a tinge of resentment. So no, it is not selfish to put yourself first. You are doing everyone a favour when you don't hold them accountable for your misery. ![]() Rachpal is a transitional coach. Contact Conny Website: http://www.aliveandliving.com/contact.html During the week I was lucky to be given a distant healing from Ann. She is in Queensland and I am in Perth, Western Australia so completely the other side of Australia. Over the last few years I have learnt or heard of many different ways of healing and our life coaches come from many different walks of life. Ann is a Medical Intuitive Practitioner and works with people and animals. She helps get fantastic results, getting their energetic energy back in balance to release aches, pains and illness.
I mentioned to Ann that I had been experiencing pins and needles through my back. Although this wasn't serious it was uncomfortable. This has been constant over the last three or so months. The last few months I have been under more stress than usual - a romantic break up, a business break up, a large tax bill and the financial stress that it caused me to name a few. It seemed things were happening on top of each other though I grateful that overall I was healthy. Ann offered to do a distant healing.
She asked me to find a spot where I wouldn't be disturbed, lie down and relax. She used crystals and said she was going to align my chakras. Ann went through the session, asking me questions throughout. All of a sudden I was very emotional and the area around the bottom of my neck across the front felt very heavy and hot and painful. I couldn't speak, Ann coughed and cleared her throat saying she could feel this was the area that needed to be cleared. She had put her hand over the base of her collarbone as she was saying this. This really surprised me as I hadn't said anything. We worked on this for what seemed like ages, Ann got me to do deep breathing exercises as she was talking, asking questions and then letting me speak. As the heaviness was released and the pain eased I felt pins and needles in my hands. I put both my hands on my tummy, one on top of one another in a protective way and started to feel very relaxed. Ann had a smile in her voice as she mentioned that she could feel a gentle warmth on her stomach and had put her hands across her tummy. She mentioned that throughout the day I might feel some different things, but not to worry as it was still the effects of the healing. I felt very calm and relaxed at the end of the session. |
