Talking Techy with Rosemary

Rosemary is one of my perfect clients.  She is one of our members of Online Coach Support and she is also a client of mine personally.  One of the things that frustrates and overwhelms Rosemary is some of the techy aspects that are involved with creating her coaching and wellness biz @rosemaryobrien.com.au.  What I love about her and the other members with Online Coach Support is their determination and persistence to work things out.  

They are also encouraged to post into the private Facebook groups (Online Coach Support - closed FB group) any dilemmas they may need help with.

Rosemary now knows to come to me whenever she has some techy troubles.  Our coaching sessions are about working on whatever she is stuck on or wants to accomplish in this regard.  Sometimes it is the littlest thing that could have stopped Rosemary such as setting up her booking calendar - youcanbook.me and syncing it with her Google calendar.  

This one frustrated both of us because I would look at her screen (using the share screen option in Skype) and it appeared she had done everything correctly.  It was just by persistence that she realised that in her Google calendar that she didn't have it set to Available.   This may be because Rosemary has varied times and days because she does shift work.  If you would like to check out Rosemary's services please use her booking link.  You can see below that she has quite a varied range of amazing modalities to check out.

Another area that I have worked with Rosemary is on her website -  rosemaryobrien.com.au.  It is now very beautiful and I am so proud of how far Rosemary has come in this regard.  

Through our coaching academy training we were actually given a website template.  We were encouraged to use Wordpress.  Although I have tried it and like some of the themes, the widgets and plugins required for just the basic elements did my head in.  

I also wanted to show new coaches that especially when getting started to use something that is easy.  This would give them confidence and they would be able to quite easily and cheaply design something nice themselves without having to hire a web designer.

As I had already started using Weebly, I decided to keep going with my original website - Colleens Coaching Corner.  This has been neglected over the last couple of years since I have been working on this site - Online Coach Support.  

Rosemary had come to me in desperation initially because she knew I was using Weebly.  She had actually hired someone to help set up her website initially .  She paid for this service in more ways than one.  She tried to start doing some things herself only to be told by her web designer to "just leave things alone" and "don't touch it at all".   Rosemary was left feeling unhappy, overwhelmed and with the thought that she couldn't do it and would have to always rely on someone else.  This made me so upset so straight away I spent 20 mins with her and she was then off and racing.

When you click on to her website after a couple of seconds the water starts to run as she has looped a video giving it a very calming effect.  Rosemary has added different banners to each page so check them out also.  This is something she showed me and a fairly new feature of Weebly.

​​We also added the Facebook like feature.  It was something I did years ago back on my old site and had forgot about adding that feature to Online Coach Support so once again she helped me by asking me if I knew how to do it.  Rosemary has also got a Call to Action to book her on her Facebook page which is something that I should also add.  Check out Rosemary's and my Facebook pages.  I also have created one for Cambodia for a Cause which you can also check out.

​There are so many different features and elements that you can add with Weebly.  They also have introduced heaps more apps and features which I am loving such as the Colour Block.  You can change the colour and the transparency and also round the edges such as I have done here.  No coding required just install the app.

A few other tools that I have shown Rosemary and other members are:

• Instant Teleseminar - a teleseminar and webinar platform.  We have used for interviews and group coaching sessions as well as practising hosting an event.  The plan that I am on for Instant Teleseminar is $67 USD though for any members of Online Coach Support this is provided free.
• Zoom - another webinar platform that easily allows you to share screens as well as see viewers if you choose or just host and show a presentation of whatever sort.  Great for interviews which I will be conducting as part of the Membership of Online Coach Support for 2017.  This is free to use for 40 mins for up to 50 people.  I am on the basic plan which cost only $149.00 UD for the year which is great value.
• Canva and Pic Monkey - great tools for creating content
• Snipping Tool - tools on MS Windows that allows you to take a snip of just a section on your screen to also help you create graphics.  This is just in your Accessories or just click search in your Windows toolbar.
• Audacity - free editing tool for audios.
• Windows Movie Maker - a great tool to combine the graphics you have created using Canva, Audacity etc and turn into a video.  You can then upload to YouTube or your website, your blog post etc.  This should be already on Windows 10, otherwise use the link to download.

Most of these are either free or at low cost.

Rosemary and I had so much fun today that we decided to cohost a FREE Zoom meeting for anyone to join.  This will be next Wednesday 30 November 2016 at 5pm AWST (Perth Western Australia), 8pm ADST (New South Wales & Melbourne).  For the first session we are actually going to explore Zoom.
