As part of a team that are heading over to Cambodia in July to build homes for some of the poorest Cambodian families I thought it would be great to do a coach-a-thon. Our team leader Jim Pollock and his wife Elaine go each year and I thought that I would also like to be a part of it this year. These families have typically been in the Tabitha savings program for 4-5 years in order to reach their dream of 'graduating from poverty'. As part of this savings program, each family has saved and will contribute $40 towards the cost of the new house and land package. Our team is fundraising to pay for the remaining $1700 per house. When we arrive we will work side by side with the Cambodians, under their leadership and guidance, giving them the opportunity to teach us valuable life skills (building). The more money that we raise, the more houses and safe wells we can build, the more families can be helped. Amazingly, within one year of a family moving into a new home with access to a well, they can expect their income to at least double!
As part of the coach-a-thon which is how I am fundraising my individual amount I thought that I could assist in the following ways: Friends and Colleagues that donate could either have a coaching session (valued at $75) on any goal that they wanted help to achieve or roadblocks they wanted to overcome and move forward on. If they own a business or have a product, service to promote, or were involved in other charities they could be interviewed. If they have an idea, but not sure on how to get started we could have a brain storming session together. For members of Online Coach Support (OCS) and other coaches I could also promote or assist them by interviewing them, involving them in case studies, helping them map out their customer paths and marketing funnels, or learning a teleseminar/webinar platform that could help them with their biz. I have had a great response with coaching sessions and interviews and case studies booked to be recorded. My first case study was with one of our members of OCS - Lauren King who talks openly about the struggles she and many others face with the techy and marketing aspects. Although she is confident in her field of nutrition this side of things totally overwhelm her. Click here or on the pic below to listen to us talking through this I have further interviews booked this week which will be also showcased and then put into ITunes. This has reawaken my passion in interviewing others and learning about their stories. I have coaching sessions and strategic marketing plans also that need to be conducted so a great outcome for everyone involved.
Linda Carroll of alohalinda.com is not only a member of onlinecoachsupport.com, but she is also an active member of Toastmasters International. In Linda's words...
How could I, in my brief moments, make them pay attention to the homes and buyers that I represented? How could I intrigue and convince them to work with me? How could I best perform the job of helping my sellers and buyers achieve their dreams and goals? I joined the nearest Toastmasters and learned to hone my skills of effective speech, making my time and words work to the best effect. I left Real Estate when I moved to Hawaii, but I've continued to support speakers in the Kona Toastmasters Club. Helping a speaker who has a desire to express, who feels called and compelled to share a message is the most valuable work that I perform. My focus moved to supporting other speakers while I was still in Olympia, Washington. Watching a woman or man struggle against the obstacles of nervousness, uncertainty, undependable voice, not knowing what words to use...and the powerful, jubilant transformation when everything begins to click, and the words begin to flow, their heart opens and their eyes shine as they realize they can speak effectively. and be heard and understood. That they have delivered a message, planted a seed, made a difference (even a small difference) in the listener's life. Even before Toastmasters I enjoyed speaking and acting. I performed in a few plays, done a little singing, and some voice acting too. Mostly amateur, some radio ads. A surprising strength that I bring to Public Speaking is my long career in various retail and other sales. You see, every speech, every lesson, every negotiation is like a sales transaction. First, there's a problem to be solved, or a void to be filled. A solution is offered by the seller or the speaker, and evaluated by the buyer or the listener. It gets accepted or rejected. Both parties are satisfied...or not! The best sales, and the best speeches, are full of value, go smoothly and easily for both sides, and end up happy for everyone! Linda is also a client of mine and has also invested in both of my courses. Over the last few months I have beta tested the content and ran both of these courses:
I am very grateful to have Linda as one of my students because she also provided me with some wonderful feedback and some valuable "nuggets of gold" Below is a little snippet of audio that includes Linda talking about who we serve... (only 2 mins) Look out for my interview with Linda next week. We will talk about her biggest takeaways from doing the courses (especially Product Creators) and also have a sneak peak into what her course entails If you want to support your tribe with group coaching, webinars or teleseminars and workshops, but you are nervous about public speaking, afraid that your voice will shake or squeak or that you won't present the information in a clear manner Linda's course Coaches Speak is the course for you. To start off with you may wish to pre-record some audio so you can hear yourself back. You may want to create your lead magnet or hook to get your ideal clients to opt in so you can build up that trust and relationship. You may want to create a meditation. You may want to record a whole topic or segment first, which will allow you to edit before you present it to your tribe. The list is endless!!! The next round of Product Creators and Coaches Speak (combined) will be starting Saturday 15 October 2017 at 11am Perth (AWST) time. This time though I will be teaming up with Linda Carroll - alohalinda.com who is beta testing her course - Coaches Speak. So not only will you be able to be hands on with creating some content for your courses you will also be guided with some great tips of how you can present yourself when speaking either online or at workshops.
